GEAM's real estate professionals have, on average, 19 years of real estate experience and the team's senior management have been with GEAM an average of 14 years. Their backgrounds reflect a cross-section of the industry: development, lending, property management, architecture and design. This breadth of experience and the team's stability has fostered an atmosphere of teamwork, focus, and efficiency.

The team is organized regionally and each team is responsible for the assets in their portfolio from acquisition to value realization. The continuity created by this structure not only encourages accountability at every step of the investment process (acquisition, management, and disposition), but also facilitates informed investment decisions that incorporate a broad perspective and a greater appreciation of the impact each decision has on the overall success of an investment.

GEAM actively cultivates and maintains a network of property-level partners and managers, often forming joint ventures to invest in particular assets, allowing for the hands-on approach needed to effectively manage assets day-to-day. The GEAM team maintains responsibility for creating and approving annual property management strategies and budgets, and relies on its partners to work as an extension of the team. GEAM's aim is to identify and work closely with the strongest partners in each market for each asset. More often than not, these partners also serve as an excellent source for new acquisition opportunities, often allowing for greater participation in off-market transactions.

GEAM's real estate team benefits from being part of a multi-disciplined investment organization, particularly in its ability to engage GEAM's fixed income credit research team to assist in evaluating the credit of existing or potential tenants, and to provide additional insight into financing alternatives. It is also able to utilize GE's network of businesses for valuable insights, including local market conditions and tenant credit evaluation, to enhance investment decisions.
